About Paybackable
How it got started
We created Paybackable because we were sick of using an Excel spreadsheet to track our own out-of-pocket expenses. Whenever we wanted to submit an expense report, we'd send the speradsheet in to the person who handles the books, and she'd manually type the transaction into QuickBooks. Because it was such a hassle and took so long, expense checks would end up as the lowest priority, which didn't exactly help the personal cash flow.
So, we created a very simple web site to let us log our expenses while away from the office and export them in a QuickBooks readable format. What used to take 30 minutes or more for a single expense report shrunk to less than 5 minutes. It made our lives so much easier that we decided to let some of our friends use it. They liked it so much that we opened it up to the all small business owners. We've gotten such great feedback that we've turned it into a full-on web application. But we never want to lose the element that made Paybackable so appealing in the first place - it's simplicity.
